Dr. Berta,

I am the student who approached you after one of your lectures for Biology 201 this semester. After ourbrief discussion you offered me the opportunity to email you the questions I have regarding Evoltionary Theory. Before I get to my questions I first would like to state that all my questions are directed towards macroevolution and not microevolution. My particular problem with Evolutionary Theory is the connection between these two ideas. Second I would like to ask if I may use our notes between each other for my future reference. Whether or not you agree to this I would still like to discuss my questions and your answers regardless.

To start I would like to open with these questions:

1. What are the links between microevoltion and macroevolution, if there are any?

2. Most evolutionist believe that the beginning of this cylce started with a big bang and will in with a "big squish" and then restart the cycle. my question is where did all the matter come from in order for this cycle to exist?

3. Macroevolution is based on billions and billions of years. Science is the observation, hypothesis, experiment, and conclusion or more observations. How can we observe macroevoltion considering that Evolution Theory has not even been around for a 1,000 years? How do we know that the earth is billions of years old?

I hope that these questions will give you an idea of why I do not understand Evolutionary Theory as you requested. I am also sorry that it took me so long to get an email to you, but I had to read up on evolution in order to correctly state my questions. I realize that it may take some time to answer my questions, and I expect that it may take more than you to answer my questions if they are not in your area. I could not possible answer all the questions you could possible ask me on my beliefs.
